Modos Flow: first 13.3" E Ink monitor with Kaleido 3 color option and stylus at $799

The Modos Flow hits the market for secondary E Ink monitors: 13.3", 3200×2400 pixels (300 PPI), 60 Hz with external power, single USB-C. The color model (Kaleido 3) adds a stylus and front lighting for $100 more.

Design

The Modos Flow is a 13.3-inch external E Ink monitor, not a tablet or e-reader: the device connects to a PC, Mac, or Linux machine as a second screen. The display has a resolution of 3,200 × 2,400 pixels, with a 300 PPI density - the same as an iPad Pro 13" or a reMarkable Paper Pro.

Two models available:

• Black & White model - E Ink Carta 1300 display - $699.
• Color model - E Ink Kaleido 3 display with built-in front light and stylus support - $799.

Hands-on

The connectivity is limited to a single USB-C cable, which carries both video and power. The touchscreen is available on both models; the stylus, only on the color version.

Performance

• Refresh rate: 60 Hz with an external power supply, 40 Hz if the screen is powered solely by USB-C.
• Latency: under 100 ms as announced by the manufacturer.
• Modos' limitation: the pixel response time is not sufficient for gaming or comfortably watching videos. The Flow remains a productivity screen - long reading, note-taking, coding, writing.

Battery life

Not applicable: the Flow has no internal battery. As long as it is connected via USB-C, it works.

Verdict

The Modos Flow is a serious contender against the Boox Mira Pro 13.3" and the Dasung Paperlike 13K, with a rare advantage: the color version includes a stylus and front light, two options that competitors charge separately or do not offer. At $799 for the color version, it remains in the same price range as equivalent Dasung/Boox models, but with more integration. Shipping announced for mid-December 2026; free shipping in the United States, $18 elsewhere.
