32 GB of RAM, a 15.3-inch OLED at 500 cd/m² covering 100% of DCI-P3, 1.8 kg: on paper, the Legion 5 15AGP11 ticks all the boxes of a gaming laptop that also works as a desktop. Except that the screen is so reflective that it becomes unusable in bright light.

Design

The Legion 5 15AGP11 goes for the versatile 15-inch card: compact chassis, 1.8 kg on the scale - reasonable weight for a laptop equipped with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU and an AMD Ryzen platform. The format puts it in direct competition with an Asus ROG Strix G15 or an HP Omen Transcend 14 in the "gamer who works during the day, plays in the evening" niche.

Hands-on

32 GB of RAM in the tested configuration: it's the sweet spot for compilation, Docker VM, and a Chrome with thirty tabs without having to close Slack. The build remains within Lenovo Legion standards - sober, reinforced plastic, good dissipation, comfortable keyboard.

Performance & battery life

Notebookcheck does not publish 3DMark scores or Cinebench values in its summary article - we will update this test as soon as the detailed review is published. The Ryzen + RTX combination suggests, however, a mid- to high-end gaming positioning, in line with previous Legion 5 models.

Screen - the exception that spoils everything

This is where the tester makes the only real criticism of the laptop, and it's not small.

The panel is a 15.3-inch OLED at 500 cd/m² covering 100% of the DCI-P3 - enticing figures that make any creative or gamer drool for absolute contrast and accurate colors. Except that it is ultra-bright, to the point that "you can hardly see the content of the screen when you use the laptop in a bright environment". And in dark mode - the default config for most devs and gamers - it's worse: "you mostly see reflections".

Notebookcheck concludes without ambiguity: Lenovo should have chosen a screen with an anti-reflective coating. On a laptop sold as a "workhorse", desk ergonomics take precedence, and a mirror OLED at 500 cd/m² does not reach the comfortable threshold (~600-700 cd/m² on the best laptop OLEDs) to compensate for its brightness in a room lit by a window.

Verdict

The Legion 5 15AGP11 is an excellent laptop on paper and on benchmark, but on a real desk - that of a developer or a graphic designer who works 8 hours a day with natural light - the brightness of the panel becomes a pebble in the shoe. For gaming with curtains drawn, no problem; for serious dual-use, it's better to aim for a Legion generation with a matte screen, or wait for a SKU with anti-reflective coating.
